Feeds:
still 100% G-tube dependent. Eating very small amounts during the day,
but is not as interested as she used to be: still not drinking
anything.
Personality: WILD. She took her first steps on the 11th and is gaining more confidence every day! She still prefers to crawl but if encouraged, can walk across the room. Then, of course, everyone must clap. If you don't, she will look at you pointedly until you do. :) Another favorite of hers is to "tell" you to rock her. She often wakes up a time or two during the early evening and wants to be cuddled. She'll hand you her blanket, lift her arms, and, when you pick her up, point to the rocking chair in the event you may have forgotten the routine. :)She's very big into pointing to things lately, and can tell you what she wants by pointing to it or bringing it to you to help her with. She is great at asking (signing) for help but we are working on learning the word "wait" and NOT screaming/shrieking when told "wait" or "no." She definitely has a mind of her own.
She now knows several body parts - eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tongue, hair, feet, hands, and tummy. She also knows three shapes - circle, square, and triangle. She knows the colors blue, green, red, orange, purple, yellow, and can hand them to you in a field of two and most of them in a field of three. (Can you see the therapist coming out in me here?) She is so unbelievably smart. She can point out any animal/object in most of her books, and again, you must clap for her. ;)
Therapies are going fairly well. We're getting ready to start a new feeding program with our speech therapist, while also continuing speech with her once a week. Prayerfully this will work well for Ruthie.
Sweet smooches!
Just for reference, this baby doll is the exact size of Ruthie when she was born. Amen?
