After several months of planning, collecting, and organizing, the NICU Christmas care packages are finally finished! A big, big thank-you to all of you who helped in this project with your donations of items or money - we couldn't have done it without you! Here is how it all went down:
We started with these really cute snowman bags!
I made 6" lovey blankets to go in the micro-preemie bags.
And 12" fleece blankets for the rest of the bags.
And about 20 flannel receiving blankets to put in "going home" bags for babies being discharged from the NICU.
Each bag got one chapstick...
Two hand sanitizers (the holy grail of preemie parenthood!)...
Two packs of Kleenex...
A pen and little notebook for writing down notes during rounds.
A couple of individual instant-tea flavorings...
Several hard candies...
A granola bar...
A couple packets of instant oatmeal for the parents who, like us, were there super early in the morning. There is a kitchen in the waiting room off NICU 1.
Two small bottles of unscented hand-lotion, for all of the handwashing that is required will really do a number on your hands.
Packs of hot chocolate...(I forgot to take a picture of the actual box.)
A few vitamin C drops...
And last but certainly not least, Life After NICU cards.
Each bag was tied with pink ribbon and a card with a picture of an adorable little girl. :)
This is the front of the card.
This is the back of the card.
And finally, DELIVERY!!

Yay!! Glad it went well :)
