Ruthie's 9 month stats

Ruthie's stats:

Chronological Age: 9 months 0 days
Adjusted Age:  5 months 2 weeks
Weight:  12 lbs 11.75 oz @ GI weight check last Tuesday
Height:  24.06 inches
Head circumference: 16 inches - 2nd percentile on regular chart, 50th percentile on preemie chart!
Diapers:  Size 2s - she'll probably be in these for awhile - they're still pretty big lengthwise
Onesies & Dresses: 3 months
Sleep'N'Plays:  3-6 months
Shoes:  kinda between 0-1...depends on the shoe, not that she wears shoes...or socks
Teeth:  her 2 top teeth are coming in - we can see the white but they haven't broken through yet.
Naps:  (2) 45-min naps and (1) 2hr nap,but no rhyme/reason to when that long one might be.
Sleeps:  6:45/7:00pm to 8:00/9:00am
Feeds:  99% G-tube fed. Occasional spoonful of baby food but not without a lot of effort and gagging. She still refuses all bottles.
Personality: She is SO much fun! She has really found her voice lately and likes to practice squealing and growling in addition to her "regular" talking. She loves to lay on the changing table and talk to you, and her expressions are hilarious. She smiles a lot and sometimes we can get her to laugh. She's gotten very serious about strangers - she stares at people and really takes them in before deciding how she feels about them. She continues to do well with her therapists - of course, she won't do what I know she's capable of when any of them are watching, but at least we know she CAN do it. She rolls all over the place on the floor and scoots on her booty. She still loves Mickey Mouse and is very into the "Chin Up" song from Charlotte's Web. In fact, that was the ONLY thing that kept her happy during the last leg of our Florida trip...we must have sung it 50x.

She passed her swallow study with no issues and the SLP gave us some tips to try with her bottles. So far none of it works but we'll get there eventually.

Ruthie has had a LOT of firsts since our last update. She was finally able to meet my sister on April 2nd. As many of you know, my sister is terminally ill with a brain tumor and often doesn't feel well enough to visit, but she was anxiously awaiting her first visit with Ruthie.

She went on her first road trip to Florida for her very first Easter. She met a lot of Jay's family and friends for the first time. She loved his grandfather, but wasn't too thrilled with too many others holding her She finally warmed up to his parents toward the end of the trip. We were so busy the entire time that we didn't get to spend as much time with them as I would have liked. She had a lot of firsts - first bathing suit, first time at the beach, first time in a pool. And she finally got to meet her cousin, Joya!! Ruthie and Joya were supposed to be two weeks apart, but....well, now their 4 months apart. =) Here are a few pics of our FL trip.

She also got to go to church for the first time a few weeks ago. She talked a little too much during Sunday School, but slept through most of the service.

Ruthie was also chosen to receive a Tubie Friend from a wonderful company online who makes stuffed animals for children with tubes so they can have a friend  with a gtube just like them! Here she is with hers - "Pink."

It's bigger than she is, but one day that will change. =)

  1. Every time I see pictures of her, I'm always amazed at how much she's grown!

  2. Don't give up trying bottles with her. Our preemie daughter was G-tube fed for the first 18 months & although she barely took a bottle, practicing with her did allow us to transition her to an age appropriate sippy cup when the time came.

  3. We haven't given up...we have quite the assortment of bottles at our house, lol. No luck with any of them, really - she almost took a Nuby today, but she looked almost confused as to what to do with it. I think she's forgotten how to drink. :(
